Falling Head Over Heels With MAC Mehr

    DSCF0666

My first few makeup hauls when my love affair with makeup was beginning to blossom involved me buying bullet after bullet of MAC lipsticks all of which I ordered online. Ever since, I’ve never had any MAC lipstick hauls anymore and just occasionally buy tubes here and there (and even witht his restraint, a huge majority of my lipsticks are from MAC).  Because I want to try as much shades and formulas from other brands too! This is why I was so happy when my close friend Isa gave me MAC Mehr as a birthday present when she found out that Mehr was on my must-buy list! Thank you Lord for giving me friends whoo understand the makeup-addiction-struggle.

    Shade

Ever since MAC Heroine and Evening rendezvous broke me out of my pink-nude color spectrum rut, this has been the only lipstick in the pinky nude lipstick army that’s had the ability to shake me out of my love for my bold colored lipsticks. Seriously guys, it’s so good! MAC describes it as a “dirty blue pink”. And I agree. I used to buy lipsticks that look good on the tube, aka colors that look good to my eyes. But after a lot of errors, I’ve grown to learn that more than usually, ugly looking lipsticks in tubes (brownish pinks) look more flattering on me than the typical girly pink shades. The shade applies a tad bit deeper than the usual MLBB shade because my natural lip color isn’t as pigmented as others. But I still would consider it as a PERFECT everyday pink shade.

As for dupes, I think it’s very similar to Urban Decay’s Lipstick Revolution in Fiend. Fiend is a lot more moisturizing and glossy while Mehr is a tad bit deeper, browner. I’m currently liking Mehr over Fiend because my Fiend lipstick has a really weird rusty smell which I’m guessing is coming from its packaging. What’s so weird is that my UD lippie in anarchy which I bought at the same time as fiend smells perfectly fine.

    Formula

One of the most iconic matte shades from MAC is Ruby Woo, which also happens to be one of the driest matte lipsticks I’ve ever encountered. This is why I have always had the impression that Matte lipsticks from MAC are dry as an overbaked red velvet cake, making me essentially allergic to MAC’s Matte formulations. I was so surprised to realize that Mehr is anything but dry. In fact, it’s as creamy as a matte lipstick can be without actually dropping its matte status. It doesn’t tug on my lips as well. I’m not saying that my dry lips are completely immune to this matte formulation because I still have to take the necessary steps to moisturize mah lips.

    Longevity

I eat a lot… but I’m happy to report that this can survive a full meal of eating and drinking with minor touch ups. With proper lip preparations, this stay on and doesn’t flake my lips out.

    Final Thoughts

Overall, I just love the specific matte formulation of this lipstick and of course, its shade is utterly divine. I like shades that I can wear with different makeup looks and this is definitely one of them.

MAC Wash and Dry Highlight Powder in Freshen Up

    DSCF2695

I haven’t been following beauty trends closely like I used to because I’ve been busy with other things but I’ve been seeing/hearing about MAC’s Wash and Dry collection here and there. I chanced upon the actual products two weeks after their official release here in the Philippines and I instantly fell in love. At first I was hesitant because I recently had 3 separate makeup hauls. But the packaging was just so mesmerising. I had to grab the best product that wasn’t already sold out.

At first glance, I thought that MAC Wash and Dry Highlight Powder in Freshen Up was a blush until I read the label which indicates that it’s a high-light powder. I actually didn’t find it pretty in the display counter since all the gold shimmer was already gone. It was only until I saw an unused box that I fell in love instantly because of the beautiful gold shimmer. I knew that it didn’t run all the way though the to the pan since the testers didn’t have any shimmer. I was about to walk away…..but heck I walked back anyway as if the compact was a magnet pulling me to it.

    Shades, Texture, Opacity

This is my first MAC high-lighter (but really, it’s a blush!!!) containing 3 shades. The top most shade is a red-tangerine shade. The middle shade is a peachy-orange shade. Finally, the lower most shade is a yellow beige shade. Like I said, the gold shimmer doesn’t run deep at all. It already disappeared the first time I used the product with a blush brush. The product contains the least of the darkest shade and equal amounts of the two other shades.

The powders are smooth and silky. The first layer with the gold shimmer might emphasize pores. But once the gold runs out, the powders have a satin finish leaving only a hint of shimmer. I like to run my brush through the 3 shades once to apply on each cheek. I find that these are quite opaque so I make sure to apply it with a light hand and a not-so-dense blush brush.

The powder translates into my skin as a girly peach/coral glow with hints of gold shimmer.

    Staying Power

It lasted all day on me but of course, with some fading because I live in a very humid country.

    Overall Thoughts

I’m so happy with this impulse buy because it’s such a unique product to have based on my own collection. I don’t have anything like it yet. Based on experience with my MAC highlighters shaped like this, they also run out very slowly. And like I said, it’s quite pigmented so you don’t really need to pack on the product for it to show.

Although I still would use it as a blush and not a highlighter.

I’m so glad to have purchased it and I’d recommend you guys to buy it if you find a chance to. :)

MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection Review: Goddess of the Sea

    p1010947 COVER

MAC is probably one of the brands that releases the most number of collections in a year which is why I find it hard to catch up sometimes. Also, it’s so easy to get sucked into the glittery black hole of MAC cosmetics because once I enter a MAC cosmetics shops, I can just stay there all day testing out products.

One recent collection that really caught my eye is the MAC Alluring Aquatic collection. The packaging on it’s own is utterly divine. I have no words. OH MY GOSH. If only I didn’t have so much on my makeup wish list, I could easily have purchased the entire collection based on packaging alone. Teehee! When the collection first arrived in Manila, not all the products for the collection was shipped to the Philippines. Only the lipsticks, lipglasses, and eyeliners were shipped. The lipstick in Mystical was sold out right away. Thank God I was able to secure 1 lippie for me, Goddess of the Sea. I was immediately impressed with how it looked like when swatched on my hand. Josh (the boyfriend) saw how happy I was and he said that he knew that he wanted to get it for me immediately (HEHE).

    Product

The packaging of this collection has got to be one of my FAVORITE MAC packagings YET. The whole collection features products that come in shiny teal packaging and all the products have artificial water droplets on them. The droplets look so real on the products, little mermaid will definitely approve!!

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MAC Goddess of Sea is a cremesheen finish. The shade is a beautiful dark purple raspberry-plum but it’s more plum than raspberry. The lipsticks translates on my lips beautifully with a slightly glossy finish.  I have MAC Rebel and I haven’t gotten myself to write about it because I feel like the shade just doesn’t sit very well with my skin tone. I was so into purple lipsticks, eyeliner, eyeshadow, purple errthang lately and I thought MAC rebel was my perfect purple lip shade. Sadly, I was mistaken. Goddess of the sea has the perfect amount of boldness for me and it’s seriously my favorite purple shade ever!

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When worn, my lips look so supple and my lips equally feel moisturised. The formulation of this lipstick is flawless. It’s perfect for those who have dry lips like me. The texture is creamy but not creamy enough to slip and slide on my lips. I’m in love! The lipstick lasted a good four hours on my lips!

    Final Thoughts

I really love love love love this lipstick!!! I urge you guys to grab this while you can if you are looking for a plum/purple shade and have a similar skin tone with me. I think this would suit people with darker skin tones too! I hope you guys can FEEL how much I love this lipstick even through just reading this because AHH. It would be a shame to pass on this jewel. <3

You can also easily make this shade a lot more bolder by applying a purple lip liner all over your lips before applying this lippie!
