I have to admit: ever since I got a day job, I’ve really struggled between cherishing the last few minutes of sleep I can get and using the extra time to make my makeup extra. Unfortunately, I’m really not a morning person and I’d rather sleep, go to work sans makeup and do my makeup during my lunch break instead, lol. I know, how shameful right. So I’m always on the lookout for products that make my makeup routine easier.
Enter Nars’ first ever foundation stick: NARS Velvet Matte Foundation Stick.
It comes in 20 shades, I got the shade Fiji Light 5. The shade looks a tad bit yellow but it blends into my normal skin pretty well. Although it’s matte, it’s not drying at all and glides onto my skin with such ease. It also comes with a removable Latex-free Touch-up blender which I like to use to blend out the foundation onto my skin. The formula is super buildable. You can go with a medium coverage and use the sponge with a gliding motion to set the foundation. For a more heavy coverage, use the sponge in stippling motion.
Still, I make sure to moisturize and prime my skin before applying this foundation. Also, I recommend setting the cream foundation with a loose translucent powder. I know it’s a matte foundation stick but our climate is brutal and I just feel safer going into the day with my foundation fully set with a powder.
Also, I picked up my first two NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks in Corfu and Nepal.
Corfu is a shimmering taupe while Nepal is a nude pink. Corfu is a nice shade for some pop of color while nepal is a nice base for powder eyeshadow. These sticks are creamy and have a satin finish but I recommend setting them with translucent powder to make sure they on the eyelids. These are great for girls on-the-go who want an easy pop of color on the eyelids. Do note that I noticed a bit of fading towards the end of the day.

As promised, here’s my makeup look using all three Nars products:
NARS’s newest foundation stick is also my first foundation stick and I’m loving it so far! It’s so much easier to use when I’m on-the-go as compared to having to lug around a bottled foundation and beauty blender. It’s definitely cut down my makeup routine by a few minutes and I appreciate it so much because as we all know, time is gold!
