My mom has to be the biggest influence I have in my life. May it be career-wise, ideals, goals, and most importantly, FOOD-wise. She’s an amazing cook which explains my voluptuous size (ahem). It’s an understatement to say that I grew up around food. Naturally, I inherited her penchant for food. And one of our favorite things to do is eating out! I know, we ought to throw in a few work out sessions in between eating out but that’s a story for another day.

Recently, we decided to try out Apartment 1B. Actually, she’s already eaten there before but it was my first time to try it out. We decided to head to the nearest Apartment 1b location to us which is located in Rockwell. Here’s what we had:

Onion Soup

It’s nothing mind-blowing but it was an onion soup done right and was comforting.

Vongole Pasta

Al dente, fresh seafood, but could use a tad bit lighter of a hand in seasoning the dish.

Reuben Sandwich

And in my opinion, the Star of our Meal, CRAB CAKES!!!

When this stunning beaut first came out, I had no idea it was the crab cakes that we ordered. My mom carefully broke the beautiful, golden brown exterior of potato string and it revealed a gorgeous patty packed with fresh chunks of crab meat! The entire structure sat on a bed of salad green, cherry tomatoes and berry vinaigrette dressing that provided a refreshing break from the rich dressing that came along with crab cake. This was supposed to be just an appetizer but my mom and I kept on reaching for bites, it was the first dish we finished up first!

These are without a doubt, the best crab cakes I’ve had in Manila.

Overall, the service and quality of the food was impressive. I would definitely go back here just to have the yummy crab cakes!
