    Maybelline Super BB Cream

    DSCF6921

Even as someone who’s obssessed with makeup, I’m no stranger to falling into makeup routine patterns. In most cases such as with face bases, I often stick to the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. My ultimate favorite choice of makeup base is liquid foundation which is why I have been away from the world of BB creams for quite a while now. Fortunately, I was able to receive one of the newest BB creams out in the market today to take me out of my boring makeup routine habits.

Maybelline Super BB Cream is the brand’s latest and newly improved BB cream. It’s so much more different from it’s old counterpart because of three things: SPF 50 PA++, high coverage, and Mineral Guard FilterAside from that, it also promises to hide imperfections and pores, last all day, brighten, smoothen and even out your skin tone. The gorgeous new rose gold packaging is a major plus for me too!

    3Cs: Color, Consistency, Coverage

The BB cream comes in two shades: 01 Light and 02 Medium. The lack of shade options when it comes to BB creams is normally my biggest qualm with BB creams. But BB creams are actually designed to oxidize once applied on the skin in order for it to match one’s skin tone. As for my case, I used the shade 02 Medium which has hints of cool undertones and I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to match my skin tone quite well.

The consistency is right between the runny and thick spectrums. I find that it has medium coverage which makes it easy to spread and blend into the skin. It had decent coverage, but I personally still need concealer to correct the redness on my face and dark undereyes. It lasted around 6-7 hours on me before fading on a very busy day and a good 8+ hours on a laxed day.

    Final Thoughts

I think girls who hate having to apply legit makeup on their faces aka foundation and prefer to go for the subtle look will absolutely love the Maybelline Super BB Cream.

Overall, this is the perfect BB cream for girls who are always on-the-go because of its Mineral Guard filter which helps shield away pollution from the skin. The SPF 50++ is a huge huge bonus for girls like me who are conscious about getting sun spots and freckles. Aside from these two fabulous features, it wears and blends well into the skin and comes with the very affordable price tag of P399 a pop.

5 Minute Review: Maybelline the Falsies Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara

    p1017979 edited

I’m going to give my 5 minute reviews another try, haha. I know that a lot of my readers don’t have all the time in the world to read my endless babbling about makeup so I’m going to TRY to keep some of my review as short and simple as possible. For those who enjoy my babbling (hopefully, there’s a reader or two who likes reading long rambles haha), don’t worry because I’ll only be doing the 5 minute reviews with products that can be reviewed with the least amount of words possible! Here goes! :)

I’m already a bit late to the party by doing this review because this product has been around for quite a while now. However, I’ve really been enjoying Maybelline’s the Falsies Valum’ Express Mascara because it’s one of the few mascaras that are able to work with my short and straight asian lashes. I can count with my fingers the number of mascaras that have worked out well for me which is why I’m going to put my thoughts in the Maybelline the Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara out there, anyway! :)

    Packaging

The mascara comes in Maybelline’s signature chubby tube packaging. The end of the wand is is dense and is shaped uniquely like a spoon in order to catch the lashes thoroughly. The neck of the wand isn’t stiff and allows for minimal bending movement in order to follow the bending motion when you apply mascara.

    Formulation

I like that the shade is a true black shade. The formula isn’t too runny nor too dry and it coats my lashes quite well. The formula and the wand combined really does volumize my lashes. It’s frightening actually, the way it’s able to magically make my virtually non-existent lashes appear AND remain curled into place. I also tested if it can withstand water by showering with it. Lo and behold, the mascara did not budge one bit. I love that it’s waterproof because it’s really hot in school and I absolutely CANNOT have panda eyes in the middle of the day. The only downside of the formula is that it has a tendency to clump my lashes lashes and it’s quite difficult to remove.

Right eye: No mascara. Lashes, where art thou?

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Left eye: suddenly it’s MAGIC! hehe

    Tips and Final Thoughts

To avoid applying too much product, lightly brush off the excess product on a tissue. Apply the product from the roots of your lashes and carefully work your way upwards. Apply a maximum of two coats unless you want spider lashes.

I really love this mascara because it’s magical for my stubborn lashes. I recommend this to those who have short lashes like me. I wouldn’t recommend this to those who have long and luscious lashes because it might just end up clumping your beautiful lashes, haha!

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hours Eyeshadow

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

    Hi everyone!

It’s the rainy season again here in the Philippines and I thought of reviewing some items that are quite perfect for the rainy season: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hours Eyeshadow. Well, they are actually more suitable for summer since they’re cream shadows and they have such vibrant colors. However, I think that they are perfect for the rainy season as well because these lovelies can withstand the constant battle between the sun and rain. I purchased these Maybelline cream shadow gems US last year. I saw them in one of the many drug store there and I grabbed four shades: Tenacious Teal, Pomegranate Pink, Painted Purple, and Too Cool.

    Product

These are cream  eyeshadows that have intense color payoff and are supposed to last 24 hours. Each eyeshadow is housed in a sturdy glass jar with a black screw on lid. The packaging is really nice and does not feel cheap at all. They remind me of MAC paint pots, actually.

    What I Love:

    • The formulation is excellent. They are super creamy and easy to spread out. They dry quickly though. Make sure to apply on one eye at a time.
    • The shades I purchased had wonderful color payoff. I picked out two loud shades and two more wearable shades.
    • They can be used as an eyeshadow base, eyeshadow alone, and eyeliner. I love that cream eyeshadows have so many functions. <3
    • I tried these on one at a time and did not experience any creasing or fading for around 15 hours. I don’t like wearing makeup overnight so I wasn’t able to test it out for the full 24 hours.

    What I dont like:

    • Since the packaging is really nice, these eyeshadows may not be travel friendly because they pack on a LOT of weight to  your travel make-up kit. (It’s not really a bad thing for me though. Just pointing it out. ;)

    Tips and Final Thoughts

    • When you’re in a hurry, you can use your fingers to apply this on your lids.
    • Use the bright colors as eyeliners for a pop of color on your peepers.
    • Use the white shade to make your eyeshadow appear more vibrant.
    • Use the pomegranate pink (which actually looks like a bronzey shade to me) as an eyeshadow base to your neutral eye makeup look.
I really like these Maybelline cream eyeshadows because they are a cheap yet high quality alternatives to the very famous MAC paint pots. I recommend you guys to grab a shade or two if you can! :)

Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Foundation

    1344834349_DARE TO WEAR_Full Body_MAXINE

    Hello everyone! :)

In my previous post, I talked about my super exciting experience during my Maybelline shoot for their Do You Dare Campaign!

I styled myself and here are the photos! (I had to walk back and forth in a street in UP Diliman and it was kinda funny because jeeps would pass by and I’d feel people staring. hehe!)

    Here’s my review!

    Product

Maybelline has 7 claims with this foundation: Shine Control, High UV Protection, Instant Fairness, Dark Spots Blend Away, Long Lasting, Visibly Smooth Complexion, Conceal Blemishes and Pores and Tone Perfecting. Let’s see if the product stays true to their claims! :)

I was reading a couple of people’s comments on Maybelline’s Facebook page and I saw a lot of complaints regarding the product’s durability. A lot of people had complaints that the product cracked easily. Maybelline responded to the users’ comments and said that the product was repackaged. :) I did my research and found photos of the old Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One foundation. Indeed, it is repackaged. I don’t have the old one but you can look here to see how it looked before.

To test the product’s durability myself, I dropped it. I had to drop it TWICE for it to look like this. Considering how other people complained about the product cracking without it being dropped, I do think that this is a new and improved version of the Maybelline Clear and Smooth Foundation.

    What I love:

    • packaging seems sturdy.
    • it has SPF 25 +++
    • although I don’t really have oily skin, it did decrease the shine of my face
    • comes with an applicator; handy to use daily
    • the mirror it comes with is very handy; not too small
    • I don’t really have major complexion problems however I can see noticeable changes in my complexion
    • shades are custom made to fit asian skin
    • full coverage foundation
    • good for everyday use
    • very affordable at PHP 250
    What I don’t like:
    • I wouldn’t say it’s “tone perfecting” because there are only four shades
    • the shade I got must be wrong but it was a tad bit too thick or it made me look a bit ghastly in perso when first applied.

    Final Thoughts and Tips

This is a very good foundation if you want a foundation that’s affordable AND efficient. I’m really impressed but I’m not really a powder foundation type of girl so I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this soon. I’ll probably be using this once in a while to powder the oily spots on my face like my nose. I recommend this to girl’s who have oily skin and are looking for an everyday foundation. Girls with normal skin will also enjoy this.

Although this comes with a sponge applicator, I would rather use a fluffy powder brush to apply this to be able to control my application. And I feel like sponges absorb too much of the product and I end up wasting product.
