I’d like to think that I’m very open minded when it comes to lipsticks. My lipstick army is currently composed of bullets from different brands–high-end and low-end. But one can take one look at my collection and immediately pinpoint the brand I’m most (unconsciously) partial to: MAC. It’s probably because it’s one of the brands that most girls explore first when they step into the world of beauty. Well for me, that was the case. But many years into my obsession with beauty, I always find myself going back to MAC for lipsticks and other products as well. For me, the reasons why I keep coming back are the ff: the consistency of their products, the sheer amount of delicious shades to choose from, and finally, the price tag. The fact that their lippies are no more and no less than P1000 makes a purchase easier vs a P1000+ lippie.
So when I received a GC as a gift to use in Rustans, I immediately dashed to the MAC counter to buy one of my longest yearnings: MAC TWIG! I’ve been yearning to buy more new MAC products but have been trying to control myself from purchasing more because of the sheer amount of stuff I already have! Using a GC to purchase something from MAC doesn’t count, right?!
MAC Twig
Mac Twig is another MLBB (my lips but better) shade that has a satin finish. MAC’s satin finish is one of my favorite formulations from the brand because it contains a hint of sheen without being too much. It’s very similar to their Matte finish but Satin is just a tad bit less drying that the Matte finish. A hint of sheen to me means it’s a good thing because sheen is almost usually equated to moisture–something that my lips are in dire need of.
The shade is a stunning cool-toned brownish pink. It had medium to heavy opaqueness. It’s not super creamy but translates onto the lips like a dream.
Longevity
Since it’s quite similar to MAC’s matte finish, MAC Twig stays on the lips at an average of 4-5 hours but will need retouching after a meal.
Swatches and Comparisons
Among my lipstick army, I found MAC twig to be most similar to MAC Mehr (matte) with Mehr having a more warm, rosy pink undertone. For your reference, I also put in MAC Faux (satin) into the comparison line up. MAC Faux is more of a nude pink shade which I actually find a tad bit too light on me.
Final Thoughts
I am soooo thrilled to have Twig as a new addition to my MLBB lipstick army. It’s such a wearable shade, I’ve literally used it everyday for the past week. I’ve seen two other friends wear it: one mestiza (fair skinned) friend and another Asian (with yellow undertones) friend and BOTH of them rock the shade equally. I think the shade is a universally flattering shade and I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a new everyday-lippie.
What do you think? What’s your ultimate MLBB shade? Let me know in the comments below!
xoxo,
