First Taste to Infinity

For most of us, chocolate has become a staple in desserts that we simply can’t help but crave for it. I crave for chocolate in all shapes and forms: from pure chocolate bars, to MnMs, to truffles, and of course, to Magnum. When Magnum was first launched in the Philippines, I remember all hell broke lose and EVERYONE was dashing to the nearest convenience store and supermarket just to get their hands on the premium chocolate bar made famous by Solenn Heussaff. It got so viral, I still remember my Facebook and Twitter being flooded by a tidal wave of Magnum-related posts. Ever since, Magnum has continued to keep everyone on their toes as they release new flavors that send people to buying frenzy once the newest flavor drops.

Recently, I was invited to have a first taste to Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Caramel and Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Raspberry. Each boasts intense chocolate flavor thanks to its pure Belgian chocolate coating and sweet sprinkling of rare Tanzanian cocoa nibs. While Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Caramel is made with silky chocolate ice cream and luscious sea salt with smooth caramel, the Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Raspberry is made with decadent chocolate ice cream with a refreshing fruity raspberry swirl. Magnum Infinity is made with two times more cocoa than a Magnum classic and delivers double the indulgence for an intense chocolate pleasure that stays with you longer.

During the launch, I was able to experience gastronomic journey featuring a special curated menu by Chef Jordy Navarra of TOYO Eatery.

Taking inspiration from Magnum Infinity’s unique mix of flavors, Chef Jordy made use of unusual pairings to bring out the intense flavors in each course. Knowing that it was a Magnum event, I was excited to see how Chef Jordy incorporated his weapon of choice, chocolate, into the savory dishes on the menu. I felt like I was experiencing a real life episode of Iron Chef where Chef Masaharu Morimoto would flawlessly incorporate unusual ingredients into his meticulously though out out dishes!

The first course was the appetizer: a cauliflower flan with sea urchin, chocolate and coffee.

For the main course, we were served a blackmore wagyu with creamy potatoes, garnished with cocoa nibs and dried fish. This dish takes the mouthfeel of chocolate mixed with creamy potato as well as the texture of crunch from the nibs.

Saving the best for last, the plates were set for Magnum Infinity. The dessert was especially plated by Chef Jordy to highlight the chocolate bar’s main flavors.

The Verdict: Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Caramel or Magnum Infinity Chocolate & Raspberry?
Hands down, Magnum Chocolate and Raspberry. I love the tanginess of the Chocolate and Raspberry! I was on a “diet” but I found myself finishing the entire bar in a matter of few seconds.
