MAC Glamour Daze Collection Lipstick Review: Outrageously Fun

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ve always been a fan of bold lip colors! Among my go-to everyday looks is a bare face paired with a bold lip color. It’s so effortless and easy which is why I like collecting different shades of bold lip colors. The Glamor Daze Collection features 4 individual lip colors. The first color that attracted me in the MAC 2012 Holiday collection is Dramatic Encounter  which is dark and vampy purple colo but it was sold out. I got the next best thing which is Outrageously Fun, a bright fuchsia pink lipstick with blue undertones.

    What I love:

    • It’s shade is beautiful! The MAC makeup artist told me that it’s a bit similar to Candy Yum Yum. I wasn’t able to snag the Candy Yum Yum lippie when it came out so I’m extra happy that I got this!
    • It has a Cremesheen finish which makes it incredibly moisturizing.
    • It has a blue undertone which makes teeth appear whiter.
    • It swatches evenly and has a excellent pigmentation.

    What I don’t love:

    • It has the same glossy packaging as the lipstick from the Marilyn Monroe collection. I’m not a fan of the packaging because it accumulates fingerprints easily.
    • It doesn’t last as long as a matte lipstick because of it’s finish but I’d rather have a moisturizing lipstick than a dry one. :)
    • It’s limited edition. :(
    • Nothing much! I LOVE THIS.

    Final Thoughts

I’m really glad that I picked up this lipstick among the four lipstick shades!  This lipstick is for those who are into bold lip colors, but I think anyone can pull this shade off with just an extra amount of confidence. ;) I don’t have a lot of bright pink lipsticks so I didn’t mind buying another one. However, for those who already have a lot then you may skip this. :) Overall, this lipstick is absolutely a hit for me and I don’t regret buying it at all. :)

    This costs PHP1100 a pop. :)

MAC Glamour Daze Collection Review: MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Upon seeing swatches and reviews online, the first product that I really wanted to purchase from the MAC Glamour Daze collection is the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Whisper of Gilt. It’s a re-promoted item from one of the previous MAC collections. The fact that it’s being re-promoted means that it really is a good product. When I swatched it in the store, the swatches made me fall in love with the product even more! I had a limited budget so I had two choices: buy individual products from the collection or buy a set. I couldn’t afford buying the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish along with a set. I wanted the Extra Dimension Skinfinish more than I wanted the set so I decided to purchase individual products from the collection.

There were two extra dimension finishes: Super and Whisper of Gilt. I got Whisper of Gilt because the MAC makeup artist suggested that Whisper of Gilt suited my skin tone more than Superb. Accroding to her, Superb is more suited of morenas or tan skinned women.

    What I Love:

    • the swirly design’s GORGEOUS! it doesn’t last very long though because it started fading away after a couple of times of using it
    • the color of the product is a beautiful champagne gold shade
    • it has just the right amount of shimmer (not too shimmery)
    • a little goes a long way with this product
    • it serves it’s purpose as a highlighter very well
    • it can be used as an eye shadow (all over the lid)
    What I don’t like
    • this comes in a limited edition packaging and I don’t like the material of the packaging because it accumulates fingerprints easily
    • it’s quite expensive at PHP1750 a pop!
    • none much!
    Tips and Recommendations
    • use an angled brush or stipling brush to apply
    • swipe on top of your cheek bones; used you pupil as a marker and swipe from below your pupil (you don’t want your ENTIRE face to shine. ;) The key to highlighting is to highlight the areas on your face where the light hits)
    • you may use this as a highlighter on your brow bone and cupid’s bow as well
    • remember: a little goes a long way!
I’ve been using this almost everyday and I ABSOLUTELY love it! I recommend this to those who are looking for a nice highlighter. Although this is a new holy grail product of mine, highlighters in general aren’t really part of the basic makeup must-haves. Highlighters serve like a cherry on top of a cake. You don’t really need it, but it’s definitely something nice to have! :) Makeup enthusiasts and normal girls alike will definitely love this product!

Marilyn Monroe Collection Review: Legendary Powder Blush

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

    Hi everyone!

I’m back with the part two of my review on the two items that I purchased from the MAC Marilyn Monroe collection! I talked about my whole experience in purchasing the two items here. Part one of my review where I talked about the limited edition lipstick can be found here.

The collection featured 2 powder blushes: Legendary ( a peachy blush with a satin finish) and Natural Pink Beige (a pink shade with a matte finish). I felt iffy with a matte finish blush so I went for Legendary. Don’t you think the name Legendary is more catchy than natural pink beige? :)

    What I Love:

    • the limited edition packaging (SUPER PRETTY!!!)
    • the peachy shade with a super subtle gold sheen
    • gives off a very naturally flushed finish
    • does not look frosty when applied
    • shade is a bit light (you can build up the color though!)
    • lasted all day on me

    What I don’t like:

    • the plastic packaging is prone to fingerprints
    • not as pigmented as I want it to be
    • slightly chalky
    • a downside for some: these cost a bit more than the regular powder blushes (it didn’t matter AS MUCH to me though since I still purchased it. haha)
    Swatches
The color’s very subtle on me. :)
Me with the breakout of all time!!!
    Overall Recommendations
I really like this blush and it’s something that I can use everyday. For those who have a lot of blushes already or for those who prefer to save, I would not recommend them to purchase this. Although I do not regret buying this product, I do not find anything special with the blush shade-wise. Of course for the die hard MAC fans or Marilyn fans, or for those who like collecting makeup like me, this isn’t a bad buy. The only thing that would make this appealing to people is probably the packaging and the prestige of it being a limited edition product. Overall, it’s not a total let down and I’m still glad I bought it. Of the two products I got from the collection, I like my Marilyn Monroe lippie more! <3
    Availability
Available in MAC counters. Try going to the SM MOA branch because they were the last branch to launch and chances are that they still have stocks.
did you purchase anything form the collection? :)

    Review: Browhaus Brow Salon

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

    Hello everyone!

I’ve said this before and I will say it again for my new readers: never underestimate the power of nicely groomed and shaped brows! Brows are like “picture frames” for the face! Beautiful photos don’t like good without frames, right? During the days when I go out sans makeup, I try to at least fill in my brows! I tell you, it makes a huuuuge difference. ;)

A few months back, I was able to purchase a voucher from Browhaus, one of the high end brow salons in the metro. I immediately bought the voucher and I finally got to use it recently! I purchased the eyebrow shaping service with semi permanent brow coloring.

    Procedure

The brow architect let me lie down on a reclined couch. She applied some sort of cream and then left me alone for a while. She then wiped it off and started threading my brows. It was a teeny bit painful but I noticed that the procedure was a lot less painful than in other salons. The technician then started tweezing the small hairs that weren’t be removed by the thread. She chose a brow color that matched my hair color and applied the die. I waited around 30 minutes until the brow architect rinsed the die off.

I don’t know what happened to my photo. :(

    What I Love:

    • efficiently trained brow architects
    • friendly and knowledgeable brow architects
    • fairly quick procedure
    • procedure wasn’t very painful
    • super nice result from the procedure
    What I don’t like
    • the cubicles didn’t have doors so anyone passing by can see you ( i value my privacy)
    • the cubicle setup kinda ruins the whole experience. the voices of people in the store can be heard from inside the cubicle
    • the service is quite expensive at 1295.
    Before
    After

    After

    Overall
I really enjoyed my experience! My eyebrows look super nice after the procedure! I don’t know how I will be able to sustain this kind of brow maintenance on my lowly student budget. ha ha ha. I’ll probably look for sponsors (mom or dad?) teehee. I’m definitely going back! I might try their Greenbelt 5 branch because the cubicles there are private versus the kinda public cubicles in the Serendra branch.
Have you tried Browhaus’ services? Tell me all about it in the comments section! :)
    Love and Liptick,

Marilyn Monroe Collection Review: MAC Charmed I’m Sure Lipstick

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

    Hi everyone!

I’m back with a review about my newest HG (holy grail) red lipstick, MAC’s Charmed I’m Sure from the Marilyn Monroe Collection.

The Collection featured 4 reds: Charmed I’m Sure, Deeply Adored, Love Goddess and Scarlet Ibis. Charmed I’m sure is a true red similar to Russian Red. Deeply Adored is a dark brownish red. Love Goddess is a pinkish red while Scarlet Ibis is an orangey red similar to Lady Danger. I’ve been looking for a true red so I purchased Charmed I’m sure. I also wanted to get deeply adored but it sold out so quickly. :(

    What I love:

    • a TRUE RED!!! my gay friends would call this p*ta red. HAHAHA.
    • it’s a matte finish lipstick. Matte lipsticks tend to have a longer wearing times.
    • I LOVE the packaging. I’m so torn between using the lipstick and preserving it! Also the box comes in another slidey box thing! Talk about bonggels packaging! haha. sorry. I’m being such a baklita right now.
    • it’s limited edition meaning I’m one of the few in this world who has it! :)
    • red tones like this with blue undertones make teeth look whiter! :)

    What I don’t like:

    • it’s limited edition meaning I won’t be able to get another one when I run out.
    • it’s a bit drying because of its matte finish. make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before you apply!! :)
    • quite pricy at PHP1100 a pop
    Swatches
    Final Thoughts
Even if it’s pricey, I love it nonetheless!!!!! I’m so happy I endured the strict purchasing procedure of MAC cosmetics! I appreciate their strict purchasing procedure because it made the whole event organized which was nice. :) The suffering I went through to get this lippie was so worth it. hee hee. If you guys already have Russian Red and are not a fan of Marilyn Monroe, you can pass on this. :) For the die hard MAC and Marilyn Monroe fans, this product does not disappoint! :)

    Availability
These are available in MAC counters nationwide.
    Ciao!

Review: Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Mauve-ulous

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

    Hi everyone!

In my last blog post, I talked about my favorite trend for Fall 2012 which is Burgundy Lips. For my last post, I looked for an affordable lipstick with a burgundy shade and the best one that I found was the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Mauve-ulous. :)

    What I Love:

    • i love the shade
    • the colorsensational line generally has a wide shade selection
    • the “curved” shape of the lipstick makes it easy for people to apply the lipstick on the lips
    • slightly scented but I barely notice the scent
    • packaging is simple but it doesn’t look cheap
    • very moisturizing
    • cheap at PHP399 compared to a standard MAC lipstick which costs around PHP1000

    What I Don’t Like

    • since the lipstick is moisturizing, it does not stay on for a long time.
    • you’ll have to keep on reapplying
    • the silver part of the lipstick acquires fingerprints easily
    Me wearing the lippie.

    Overall Tips and Recommendations

I really like this lipstick. I think it is perfect for those who are looking for affordable lippies. For those who have wide lipstick collection shades and are used to high end lipsticks, I don’t think that they will appreciate this as much. I used to be a brand snob and I used to buy only high end lippies. However as a beauty blogger, I’ve become more open to looking for cheaper alternatives. I don’t think that this product is exceptional because of that fact that it doesn’t stay on the lips very long but for a lipstick that costs PHP399, you get your money’s worth for this product.

That’s it! Thanks for reading! :)

Have you tried any lipsticks from Maybelline’s Colorsensational line? How was it? I would love to hear your comments below! :)

Review: Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One thing I love about my friends is that they how much I LOOOVE makeup which is why I feel extra touched when they give me makeup as presents. teehee!  Anyway, a friend of mine recently gave me the Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus Mascara as a present for my birthday. The black version is actually my holy grail mascara. Imagine my excitement when my friend told me that the mascara is actually color blue! Scroll down for my full review. :)

    Product

I’ve love Majolica Majorca’s packaging! The design of the packaging of this mascara is compliant to the overall theme of Majolica Majorca’s products. The overall theme of their products usually gives off a “royal” vibe. Their products look like something Marie Antoinette would use! :) The body and the applicator of the mascara is made of plastic. :)

Also, even though the mascara is indeed blue, it comes off as black when applied.

    What I love:

    • very nice packaging
    • holds a curl for almost the entire day
    • very wearable!
    • superbly lengthens my non-existent lashes
    • sweat proof
    • I JUST LOVE THIS MASCARA. PERIOD.

    What I dont like:

    • OMG nothing. haha! I honestly can’t think of anything I don’t like about this!
Me wearing the Majolica Maojorca Lashe Expander Frame Plus mascara.
(LEFT: me lashes with the Majolica Majorca Mascara. RIGHT: no mascara)

    Overall Tips and Recommendations

Remember to swipe off excess product on a tissue to avoid clumping. To maximize the products potential, make sure to coat your lashes from the roots to the tips. However, don’t go overboard. :D 1-2 coats should enough. You don’t want spider looking lashes. ;)

This is my first time to try a colored mascara and I really like this mascara because it’s totally wearable! I wore this to school today and no one really commented anything about my “colored” lashes. I have seen really tinted mascaras over the internet so I think this is a tamer version of those crazy looking tinted mascaras. This is perfect for those who want to experiment with their makeup but don’t want to go overboard. ;)

Have you tried this mascara? What’s the craziest makeup trend are you willing to try? :) I would love to hear your experiences below! :)

That’s it and thanks for reading! :)

Review: Etude House Easy Brow Pencil

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My recent hair color change meant that I also had to find a new brow color to match my new hair color. I really get bothered when I see girls who have colored hair but have black brows. I find myself mentally “coloring” their brows to match their head color. haha! It’s not something that I hate but it just really bothers me. Anyway, the rule of thumb for finding the right brow shade is to choose a brow color that matches your head color. That or if you have dark hair, you can go 1-2 shades darker and for those who have light hair (e.g: blonde, etc), you should go 1-2 shades darker than your hair color.

I’ve been hearing rave reviews on Etude House’s brow products! I finally went to the SM department store to check out their brow products however, their best selling eyebrow pencil was out of stock. Instead, I got the Etude House Easy Brow Pencil in Brown #2.

    Product

In the past, I have been using my Sonia Kashuk brow palette and recently, I started using an eyebrow pencil from Ever Bilena. This is my first brow pencil from Etude House and I really like it! The casing is very unique. I don’t really know how to explain it but when you take the short “cap” off, it reveals the spooly brush. You then have to pull the long part of the product to reveal the actual pencil. I know it osunds complicated as you read it but it’s incredibly easy to use! :)

    What I love:

    • product is very cheap at PHP129 a piece.
    • not scratchy at all
    • blends well with my eyebrows
    • easy to use and bring around
    • comes with a useful spooly brush to blend the eyebrows

    What I don’t like:

    • you have to sharpen it
    • limited shade selection because the other shades were out of stock

    Overall Tips and Recommendations

I really like this brow pencil. It’s affordable and it matches my head color. I’ve been thinking of purchasing the more popular and high end brow products but this actually works well for me. As a beauty blogger, I’ll have to try the other brow products sooner or later but I would recommend this for girls on a budget. Remember to find a shade that matches your hair color! ;)

Me wearing the Etude House Easy Brow Pencil on my eye brows.

    Availability

Available in Etude House stores and kiosks nationwide.

Do you have this brow pencil? What products do you love from Etude House? :)

    Thanks for reading everyone!
